Low Sizergh Barn

Children at LSB

Finding it hard to choose a visitor attraction with a difference? Looking for a place where your kids can connect with food, farming and the countryside? Take a trip to Low Sizergh Barn and they are sure to be entertained, enchanted and enthused!

Visit a working farm on the edge of the Lake District

It’s fair to say that a trip to the farm is one of the easiest, most fun ways of keeping kids entertained. The fresh air, the animals, the dairy ice cream (made from our own milk) are all instant hits - even the smells amuse them.

Here at Low Sizergh Barn, we want their visit to have even greater impact by creating a fun and memorable environment to explore and a chance to learn about farming, agriculture and organic produce along the way….

Take a stroll round the farmyard with the hens who can often be found wandering the lane up to the car park, or stop alongside the milking barn for a natter with the cows. Follow our 1 ¾ mile farm trail to learn about the huge variety of plant, animal and bird life that thrives alongside the livestock on our beautiful farm. Or indulge in a farmhouse tea with cakes whilst you watch milking time through the gallery windows.

Fun farm activities for children

Farm trail leaflets are free from the shop. Packed full of information about the farm and how organic food is produced, the trail guides you past many ancient farm features on the way round. See the 400 year old hedgerows, the pond, viewpoint, and limestone walling and don’t forget to watch out for fairy signs on your way round!

Fun farm activities can also be downloaded in this section of the website so that the enjoyment can continue when you get home. We hope the produce you’ve seen will inspire you to try one of our delicious kids recipes.

A Word From...

  • Downloaded a walk from your website. Stately Homes walk, from Helsington Church down to Sizergh Castle and back. Took the kids, we had a superb family walk and picnic, we didn't realise such a lovely walk was on our doorstep. Thank you
