Assistant supervisor – tearoom (part-time)

This role is to assist and support the Tearoom Manager and Supervisor, and to assume a supervisory role in their absence. 

The main responsibilities are

•Assisting with the supervision of the staff. Helping to promote and maintain a good working atmosphere between all members of the tearoom, solving problems and encouraging an open and constructive relationship between all members of staff. 

•Ensure food is displayed in an appetizing manner to encourage customers to buy.

•Maintain our usual high standards of customer service and help to ensure that standards are practiced by all members of the tearoom staff. 

•Serve customers at the till point, take food out from the kitchen and clear tables. 

•Answer questions and provide the required information to customer queries. 

•Help to oversee keeping the tea room and the specific dishwasher area of the kitchen clean and tidy. 

•Maintain a common sense approach to health and safety. 

Essential skills and attributes:

•Previous supervisory experience in a catering environment.

•Good interpersonal skills. 

•Ability to remain calm during difficult situations in a very busy tearoom. 

•A flexible approach to working.

We have 2 vacancies each of 3 days per week, working shifts between the hours of 8.30am – 6pm, typically 6 or 7 hours per day, Thursday to Saturday or Sunday to Tuesday. 

Rate of pay £6.85 - £7.00 per hour

Cook/baker/kitchen supervisor

We are looking for a cook/baker to work in our busy kitchen, with some supervisory responsibility.

Main responsibilities:

•Hot and cold preparation and cooking of all tearoom menu items

•Produce to order cakes, tray bakes and deli items requested by the farm shop

•Supervise on days when the kitchen manager is absent ensuring all ingredients are ordered and the daily tasks are completed

•Help to develop new menu ideas and use seasonal produce to create mouth watering daily specials and puddings The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

•Experience in supervising staff in a catering environment

•High personal and professional standards

•Excellent communication skills

•NVQ2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent

•A passion for local food

Low Sizergh Barn offers pay of £7.80 - £8.00 per hour (dependent on experience) for a 42 hour week, a rural but easy to access location, set working days, no split shifts and an excellent working environment.
