CHEESE
The 120 dairy cows come in to be milked every afternoon.
Some of the milk is taken by tanker to a cheesemaker called
Chris Sandham in Lancashire. He is the third generation in
his family to make traditional Lancashire cheese and has created Kendal Creamy, Kendal Crumbly and Kendal Crumbly with Red Onion.
MILK
All the milk used at Low Sizergh is from our own herd. It
is pasteurised and bottled and then used in the kitchen and
tea room, with lots available in the farm shop.
EGGS
The hens live in three spacious cabins in one of the fields
near the farm. We collect the eggs every day, sorting them
into sizes for sale in the shop. Rick Stein used our eggs in
a taste test betweeen organic, free range and battery eggs.
Naturally, the freshness and flavour of our organic eggs shone
through.
ICE CREAM
Windermere ice cream company use Low Sizergh milk in all their
delicious ice cream. It's available in our farm shop and at
other outlets around the Lake District. On sunny weekends and
during the summer there's an ice cream cart outside the barn,
which provides perfect refreshment after a walk on the farm
trail.
CAKES
Chocolate cake, Victoria sponge cake, carrot cake, coffee
and walnut cake, Borrowdale tea bread, Westmorland lemon cake,
gingerbread, flapjack.... what more can we say?
