With the weather being fairly bleak this time of year, we often don’t want to venture outside. Sometimes there’s nothing better than getting your feet up with a nice cuppa and a biscuit (or two). So we’ve got everything you need in the farm shop to cosy up with a range of treats from some wonderful local suppliers.

We stock the finest loose-leaf teas from local tea-connoisseur Dorothy. With over 30 years’ experience in choosing teas and visiting the estates where it’s grown, you’re in good hands when it comes to Dorothy’s teas. You’ll find Dorothy’s Low Sizergh Barn Special Blend Tea in the farm shop, and you can even sit down with a pot of Dorothy’s locally blended loose-leaf tea and a view of milking time in the café from 3.30 pm every day.

We’ve also recently welcomed a new local supplier to the farm shop: family-run business, Penningtons. They supply us with hand-roasted, ethically sourced speciality coffee and the finest high-quality tea. All of their coffee is hand-roasted right here in Kendal and you’ll find the Olde Kendal blend on our shelves. It’s an aromatic, sweet, fruity, full-bodied coffee with flavours of sugared almonds, milk chocolate and citrus fruits.

We also stock all of Penningtons’ teas, including Fine Lakeland Blend, English Breakfast, Decaffeinated Kenya and Earl Grey.

Plus, we’ve got a lovely range of teapots from brands like Repeat Repeat, Cauldron Ceramics and Eddingtons. They’re sure to be coveted by anyone who pops over for a brew. And if you’re an absolute tea-aholic, Sophie Dahl’s ‘Ten Poems about Tea’ will keep you entertained as you wait for the kettle to boil.

Don’t worry – we haven’t forgotten about the treats to dunk in your cuppa. There’s a lovely recipe for Buttermere Biscuits on our recipe page. It’s from Tess Baxter’s The Lake District in Recipes and Photographs, which is also available in the farm shop.
